Install RunMacro and the Smart HTML extension
Install the RunMacro app first, then add Smart HTML if you want to use Browser Mode or Smart Record.
Step 1: Install the RunMacro app
- Open the Download page and get the latest Windows installer.
- Open the downloaded setup file, usually in your Downloads folder.
- Click Install and wait for setup to finish.
- Open RunMacro from the Start menu or the desktop icon.
If Windows shows a warning
Windows SmartScreen may warn about newly published software. Confirm that you downloaded it from the official website, then click More info → Run anyway to continue.
Step 2: Install the RunMacro Smart HTML extension
- Return to the Download page, find RunMacro Smart HTML, and click Add to Chrome — Chrome Web Store.
- On the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm Add extension and wait for Chrome to finish installing it.
- Keep the extension enabled; optionally pin its icon to the Chrome toolbar for quick access.
Smart HTML is required for Browser Mode and Smart Record. Desktop Mode and QMacro Runner do not require it.
Verify the connection to RunMacro Studio
- Open RunMacro Studio and keep it running.
- Open Chrome and visit the website you want to automate.
- In RunMacro, use the Smart HTML selector picker or start Smart Record.
- Select a test element on the page. When its selector appears in the RunMacro command table, the connection is ready.
